Boy Scout Troop 1113 aims to provide the youth of St. Leo Parish an opportunity to be a part of the Boy Scouts of America. The Troop is open to both Catholic and non-Catholic boys between the ages of 11 and 18, who are looking for fun and adventure, as well as an opportunity to learn leadership and the importance of cooperation.

During the past year the Boy Scouts:

    • Participated in the annual Summer Camp at Camp Powhatan in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia: learning Scouting skills, earning merit badges that show their proficiency in sports and outdoor activities, as well as the new Scouts earning their first ranks on the trail to becoming an Eagle Scout;
    • Planned monthly campouts at which the Scouts hike and learn the lore of the woods and of Scouting;
    • Assisted service projects including Scouting for Food, which supplied food for the St. Vincent De Paul food pantry;
    • Worked with the Knights of Columbus Father Diamond Council, our sponsor, with their Christmas Tree sales, the Father Diamond track meet, and the Family Breakfasts;
    • Helped the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department with their food sales to raise money for the Fire Department on July 4th.

Over the next year the Troop plans to:

    • Go on monthly week-end camp outs;
    • Go to a nearby Boy Scout Camp for the annual summer encampment;
    • Have its first cross-country trip to the Rocky Mountain National Park;
    • Conduct fund raisers to help Scouts earn money for camp;
    • Strengthen the Troop’s participation in Parish and local service projects;
    • Find adults (men and women) willing to help lead the Scouts as members of the committee or as members of the Scout Master Corps. Please contact the Troop if you are interested in finding out more.
