Cub Scouting is designed to serve the same basic purposes as the Boy Scouts of America: training in citizenship; providing for growth of moral strength and character; and enhancing the physical, mental, and emotional fitness of each member. St. Leo’s Pack 1113 consists of 5 Dens serving 50 boys and strives to teach each member to live by the Cub Scout motto: Do Your Best.
The following are some of the activities the Scouts participated in during the last year:
- Potomac Nationals Baseball Game, game and campout on the field
- Scout Sunday Mass
- Fall and Spring Campout
- George Mason District Camporee, Webelos two-night campout
- Sports Activities: PVI football game, bowling, GMU basketball, Harlem Globetrotters
- Archery Day, learn to shoot arrows at Lake Fairfax
- Rocket Day, build and fly model rocket
- Scouting for Food bag distribution
- Scout Religious Award Program
- Caroling at the Nursing Home
- New Scout Orientation for Troop 1113
- Pinewood Derby races, build and race wood cars
- Teacher Appreciation Week, supporting the teachers of St. Leo’s
- Scout Cathedral Mass
- District Pinewood Derby, race at the district level
- Cub Run Water Day, water fun at Cub Run Recreation
- Blue and Gold Banquet
- Conservation Activity, cleaning a local creek
- Cake Auction, fun fundraising
- Camp Snyder Jamboree Day Event
- Jamboree on the Trail, International hiking program
- Pack Picnic, water rockets, tug of war, Tiger transfiguration
