Themes to focus on:
- Jesus rose from by his own power
- Jesus broke the power sin and death and threw open the gates of heaven
- Jesus appears to the disciples and breathes on them and gives them the power to forgive sins
- Symbols for your prayer corner (Pick one or two)
- Candle
- Water (Baptism)
- White folded up napkin (Head cloth from the tomb)
- Activity(ies)
- Before the children come down set up an Easter celebration space
- Print a picture of the resurrection or an icon of the Anastasis
- Surround it by flowers and surround it by the symbols of the resurrection and the Lord’s Supper.
- Place the symbols of his suffering on a white napkin to show they have been glorified
- When the kids come down play some Easter music, perhaps Morning Like This by Sandi Patty
- As a family:
- Teach the Easter Greeting:
- Say: Christ is risen!
- Response: Truly he is risen indeed.
- Gather to pray first thing in the morning and have someone read the Easter Sequence (Victimae Paschali Laudes)
- Play the Resurrection Eggs game
